Find the picture that is not like the others, then explain why. Great for vocabulary and reasoning.
Finding the odd one out is a classification exercise: the child has to notice what three pictures share and which one breaks the rule. That builds the vocabulary of categories — fruit, vegetables, farm and wild animals, vehicles, clothes, instruments — and the habit of explaining a choice. The easy level mixes very different groups. The tricky and hard levels use groups that look alike, such as fruit and vegetables, or cars and aeroplanes, so children really have to think.
Best for ages 4–8
The answer key gives the intended picture, but if your child finds another rule and can explain it, that is excellent reasoning.
Five pictures instead of four, and the groups are close — for example a vegetable hidden among fruit.
No, only pictures. The instructions can be read aloud by an adult.
