Addition and subtraction — how many can you get right?
Choose your level
Quick, confident addition and subtraction are the base of all later maths. When a child no longer has to count on fingers for 8 + 5, their attention is free for the real problem. Math Race gives short bursts of sums against the clock: enough pressure to make it exciting, short enough to stay fun. Children see their score improve from one round to the next, which is a powerful motivator.
Best for ages 5–9
Speed itself is not the goal, but fluency is: quick recall of basic facts lets children focus on reasoning. Accuracy always comes first.
That is a normal stage. Short daily practice and strategies like “make ten” gradually replace finger counting.
From 5 for simple additions, up to about 9 for quick mixed addition and subtraction.
